ESSA Accountability Webinars

For the 2023-24 and 2024-25 School Years

For the Rebuild Phase, which are the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years based on 2022-23 and 2023-24 school year results, respectively, the United States Department of Education (USDE) approved amendments to the accountability section of New York State’s consolidated state plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) on September 8, 2023. Incorporating input from educational experts and stakeholders, including public comment, the approved amendments include:

  • Components from the one-year Restart Phase (the 2022-23 school year based on 2021-22 school year results), such as modifications to accountability indicators and timelines;
  • Indicators provided for informational purposes only; and
  • Modifications to identification and exit criteria and timelines.

The USDE approval letter and the clean and redline versions of the New York State ESSA plan, as well as a table of approved changes, can be found on theESSA plan webpage.

Please see here for further information on the accountability support models.
